Lenzerheide Pass

Lenzerheide Pass (el. 1549 m.) is a high mountain pass in the Alps in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

It connects the valley of the Rhine and Chur and the valley of the Albula near Tiefencastel. The summit is between Valbella and Parpan, approximately 5 kilometers south of the resort of Lenzerheide.

The pass road has a maximum grade of 11 percent and is open year-round, though road conditions frequently necessitate winter tires, especially between December and March.

Liechtenstein is the smallest German-speaking country in the world and the only alpine country to lie entirely within the Alps. It is also the only German-speaking country not to share a common frontier with Germany. It is a constitutional monarchy divided into 11 municipalities. Much of Liechtenstein's terrain is mountainous, making it a winter sports destination.

Balzers is a village and community located in southern Liechtenstein. As of the 2005 census, the community has a total population of 4,420.

The main part of the village is situated along the east bank of the Rhine.

Walenstadtberg Switzerland

Walenstadt is a municipality in the Wahlkreis (constituency) of Sarganserland in the canton of St. Gallen. It is located on Lake Walen (also known as "Lake Walenstadt").

Lime glacial erratic show that the Seez valley (Seeztal) was 1000 m high covered with ice during the last ice age. As the ice began to melt, wild brooks arise. The south side from the Churfirsten falls almost vertical.

The community Walenstadt is divided in five towns: Walenstadt, Walenstadtberg, Knoblisbühl, Berschis and Tscherlach. In Walenstadtberg is a famous building: The Paxmal, built by Karl Bickel. All towns are linked by a public transport bus system.

Rorschach Switzerland

Rorschach is a municipality, in the District of Rorschach in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. It is on the south side of Lake Constance (Bodensee). As of 2003, it had a population of 9000 (approx.) and covered an area of 1.78 km².

The place was first mentioned in 850 as Rorscahun. In 947, Otto I granted the abbot of St. Gall the right to operate markets, mint coins and levy tariffs at Rorschach.

Sights include the Kornhaus (Kornhaus means house of blue corn in Olden Germain), the lake promenade, an aviation museum in Altenrhein, the Abbey of Mariaberg, as well as the castles of St. Anna, Wartensee, Sulzberg and Wartegg.

Sand Sculpture Festival Rorschach

Every year 250 tons of sand are transported to Rorschach for the international sand sculpture festival. Teams of artists from all over the world compete against each other and form the sand into sculptures. After 6 days, when the works of art are finished, a jury makes its decision and awards the prizes. Following this the sculptures remain standing until approx. 13 th September (depending on the weather). The theme of this year is "eat and be eaten".
