Lavertezzo is a municipality of the district Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland and sits at the mouth of the Val Lavertezzo, a small village with a two-arched bridge and a quarry of granite. The road climbs through the villages of Aquino (574 m/1,883ft), Motta (623 m/2,044ft) and Chiosetto (645 m/2,116ft) and crosses to the other bank of the river. From there it is 8km/5mi to Brione-Verzasca.
Ponte dei Salti (Bridge of Jumps) is a medieval, stone bridge in Lavertezzo, in the Valle Verzasca. The valley is located in the Locarno district of the Canton of Ticino. Ticino is the southernmost canton of Switzerland.

In the opening sequence of the 1995 movie Goldeneye, James Bond jumps off the Verzasca Dam in Switzerland. The dam, also known as the Contra Dam, is 220 metre (720 feet) high hydroelectric dam, and is located close to the city of Locarno.
You can make the jump yourself at the very same dam, via the bungy operator for only 255.00 Swiss Francs. The height of 220m not only means world record off ground, it is also the most famous bungy jump world wide.

August 1st is National Day in Switzerland, the equivalent of the USA 4th of July, with fireworks and barbeques.Following a public vote on 26 September 1993, it was made an official national holiday in 1994. It is celebrated each year on 1 August with town-wide paper lantern parades, bonfires, hanging strings of Swiss flags and fireworks.
Switzerland celebrated its 718 th anniversary on 1 August 2009. This fabric flag (120 meters by 120 meters) was hung on Mt. Santis and was the second largest flag in the world.......until the wind tore it to shreads.
Olivone is a municipality in the district of Blenio in the canton of Ticino in the Italian speaking region of Switzerland. On 25 January 2005, the cantonal authorities announced that Olivone would merge with Aquila, Campo Blenio, Ghirone and Torre to form a new municipality to be called Blenio. This union was carried through on 22 October 2006.
Klausen Pass (el. 1948 m.) is a high mountain pass in the Swiss Alps connecting the cantons of Uri and Glarus. The pass road from Altdorf leads through the Schächen Valley, the pass and Urnerboden to Linthal in Glarus.
Klausen Pass reaches an altitude of 1952 metres and links the cantons of Uri and Glarus in Central Switzerland. The road was built from 1893 to 1899, roughly following the line of an old mule track. Since then the pass has of course been much improved and, depending upon snow conditions, is normally open from June to late October.
